Wilson's fame travelled to America in 2014, when she appeared on Showtimes The Affair. She performed the role of Alison Lockhart, a young woman with a troubled past and becomes involved with Noah Solloway. The show that also stars Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson was a hit among viewers and critics alike and won Wilson a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama in 2015. Wilson said to British Vogue that she enjoyed acting in two perspective. Noah imagines Alison's confident, unresponsible side of sexiness. But she sees her self in a different manner, as someone who is timid and unattractive from the inside. Wilson also stated that she believes America to be so moralistic. Wilson left the show in shock for viewers. But, Wilson spoke in a very vague manner about further information. In an interview in August of 2018 on CBS This Morning, Wilson stated that she did wish to quit the show, but did not have the right to talk about why. Wilson began working in film more recently. In 2016, she was a part of the horror flick I Am the Pretty Thing The House That Lives In and in 2017 was the mysterious character PT Stella in the sci-fi rom com How to Talk to Girls at Parties. Adding more of the horror genre onto her film credits she is set to be a part of the British adaptation to film to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller based on the book by writer Sarah Waters. Wilson also produces the film.
